A FRENCH LACQUER AND GILT-METAL TELESCOPE
probably Paris, Palais Royal, circa 1820
Circular monocular with seven tapering tiers, the base surrounded by a black lacquer ring painted in gold-colour with winged putti pulling a plough, arranging flowers in a basket and digging, within narrow borders stamped with small stars on vertical engine-turned reeding
1 5/8 in. (41 mm.) diam.
