by Joseph-Etienne Blerzy (fl. 1768-1808), marked under the mirror, Paris, 1782/1783, with the first charge and discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1780-1782 and the discharge mark of Jean-François Kalendrin 1789-1792, with inventory no. 307, later struck with the 'récense' mark for Paris 1798-1809, with the 'petite récense' mark for Paris 1809-1819 and with two post-1893 Parisian restricted warranty marks for gold
Rectangular box, the hinged cover, sides and hinged base enamelled with riverside landscapes with anglers and architectural motifs painted in purple camaïeu on an opalescent oyster-pink ground, within gold flutes, the sablé borders applied with translucent green enamelled husks and white enamelled dots interspersed with opalescent beads, flanked by dark blue enamelled fillets, the lid opening to reveal a mirror in the lid and, in the base, two oblong compartments, the upper one for glue, covered by a hinged lid and enamelled as the exterior and fitted with an engraved thumbpiece, the open compartment fitted with a gold-handled brush with loop, the hinged base with a shallow compartment for patches and mirror in the lid
