He started to collect pocket watches from the age of fourteen and trained as an engineer. In 1963 he moved to South Africa and from 1970 was in charge of a research laboratory as an engineering scientist. Throughout his career he maintained his interest in watches and was a keen amateur watchmaker. Robert Fink owned a comprehensive horological library and purchased watches from all over Europe and the U.S.A. both privately and at auction. He died in 1994.

gilt movement with cylinder and comb musical train, standing barrels, cylinder escapement, plunge repeat, gilt cuvette, white enamel dial with arabic numerals, eccentric winding hole, blued steel moon hands, engine turned case with milled band, diameter 57mm.
