Arita Ware, Edo period (1660-80) with Dutch silver mounts (circa 1680)
Set on a high splayed ring foot and decorated in polychrome enamels on the body with clouds, flames and flower heads, the neck separated by a band of dots and broken lines in green and yellow enamels and alternating thick and thin concentric rings in iron-red, the upper portion of the neck painted with lozenge patterns also in green and yellow, the mouth with a stiff leaf band and the handle with scrolling vines, both in iron-red, the foot decorated with concentric rings also in iron-red; recessed base, foot rim unglazed; fitted with silver Dutch mounts
