20th century, with lacquer signature Kan [Sano Chokan II] and red lacquer kakihan (cursive monogram)
Designed with bamboo in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and nashiji on a roiro-nuri ground, dew drops inlaid siver, the interior and recessed base roiro

In wood box inscribed on the underside of the lid Sasa maki-e kuro hira natsume (black lacquer wide tea caddy with bamboo) and with the kakihan (cursive monogram) of the tea master Sokuchusai (1901-1979); bottom of the box inscribed Shissho nidai Chokan tsukuru kore (made by lacquer artist Chokan II) and sealed Chokan and Fukuroshi Yuko (Cloth storage bag by Yuko) and sealed Fukuroshi Yuko
