There are several screens of Daoist immortals by Korean painters. For an example by Kim Duksin (1754-1822), a well-known portrait and genre painter, see Masterpieces of the Ho-Am Art Museum (Seoul: Ho-Am Art Museum, 1982), pl. 214. He was a nephew of Kim Ungwhan (1742-1789), who was supposedly a teacher of Kim Hongdo (b. 1745). Kim Duksin was influenced by Kim Hongdo, a great landscape and portrait painter, and both were professional painters employed by the bureau of painting.
