The precise date and whereabouts of the discovery of the Antique marble original of this Faun, are unknown, as is the date of its arrival in Florence. It swiftly established itself though in the popular imagination, and has been reproduced many many times. This model, the Faune dansant, is the second listing of the Chiurazzi catalogue of 1900.
