A French gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock, circa 1890
The bambu case with painted porcelain side panels, painted with birds amidst flowering branches and with vignettes against an ivory ground, the conforming dial with gilt painted Arabic chapter ring, blued steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with cut bimetallic balance to the lever escapement, strike/repeat on gong to the back plate stamped G.L. and numbered 1098 -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high
