A Victorian mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The hood with swan neck pediment and outset double baluster columns, conforming short inset columns to the trunk, mother-of-pearl escutcheon, the plinth with fleur-de-lys mouldings to its panelling and raised on knop feet, the 14in. wide white painted dial with scene of a boy fishing to the arch, the spandrels painted with ruined churches, the raised centre with subsidiary seconds and date rings, with engraved gilt brass hands (minute lacking), signed SMITH HUDDERSFIELD, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 93¾in. (238cm.) high
