A Queen Anne seaweed marquetry longcase clock
The stepped top hood with moulded cornice and blind fret panel to the front frieze, glazed side panels, the door with plain pilasters, convex throatings above the trunk with marquetry decoration, the sides with panels of line inlay, with geometric inlays bordering the trunk and moulded frame to a door decorated with seaweed marquetry and with central glazed lenticle, with conforming decoration to the stepped plinth, the 11in. square gilt-brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate cross half and half quarter hour markers, signed Benj. Collyer Londini Fecit, the finely matted centre with silvered subsidiary seconds ring, date roundel and ringed winding holes, further embellished by punched circlets, with blued steel hands, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; case with restorations and replacements and associated to dial and movement, circa 1705 -- 82in. (208.5cm.) high
