The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1892 as an experimental action. The records mention the locks, which were surprizingly expensive at 30 shillings, the jointing of the barrels and the fitting of the top-bolt on 24th. June that year
Greener's 'Rational' stock design was intended to avoid bruising to the cheek and, as Graham Greener maintains in his book The Greener Story, it provides a more graceful configuration to that of the Monte Carlo comb which was designed on the same principle
