The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1897. The'Vena Contracta' gun was introduced by Joseph Lang as an attempt to produce a lightweight 20-bore gun using a 12-bore load. This patent therefore incorporates a 20-bore bore dimension with a 12-bore chamber size
