A Small Malachite-Inlaid Bronze Tripod Vessel and Cover, Dui
Warring States period (475-221 BC)
Of egg form, the deep rounded body and domed cover encircled by fluted bands alternating with bands of varying scroll decoration inlaid in copper and malachite chips, as are the pair of faceted ring handles, raised on three slender legs issuing from monster masks, the three plain rings applied to the cover act as feet when the cover is inverted, with mottled reddish-brown and gold patina and some malachite encrustation.
