A Rare Large Blue and White Beaker Vase
Wanli six-character mark in underglaze blue in a line within a double rectangle and of the period (1573-1619)
Of gu form, the octagonal center section painted on each facet with a pair of dragons contesting a flaming pearl amidst flower sprigs, between borders of the Eight Precious Things (babao) above and below, the spreading lower section and the trumpet neck with similar dragon decoration, that on the neck interrupted by a pair of blue lion-mask handles, all within various decorative borders, and with further decorative bands inside the mouth rim, the nianhao reserved on a barbed cartouche below the rim
