A Blue and White Brushpot, Bitong
Transitional, Chongzhen period (1628-1644)
Painted in deep purplish blue with a scene of a farmer with a recumbent cow kneeling before an official standing beneath an umbrella held by one of his attendants while his other attendants stand in the background beside his cart, the scene interrupted on the reverse by cloud-enshrouded rocks, all between lightly incised bands, the mouth rim unglazed
