A CINNABAR-RED OVERLAY YELLOW GLASS BOTTLE
Attributed to Li Junting, probably Yangzhou, 1820-1840
Of rounded-rectangular shape, carved through the cinnabar-red overlay with a recumbent horse beneath a pine and bat on one side, the reverse with blossoming branches in a gu-form vase, a ruyi sceptre and a teapot, and a small oval seal to the side reading Jiaxing (Auspicious), the narrow sides carved with masks and fixed-ring handles, stopper

Lot Essay

The seal Jixiang was commonly used by Li Junting on his wares when he was not signing with one of his several assumed names. It is among his better-known seals, appearing on many examples. This is an extremely rare color combination for the Li School.
