A VERY FINE AND RARE CARVED WHITE JADE BOTTLE
Imperial, probably Palace Workshops, Beijing, 1700-1760
Of flattened spherical form with slightly waisted neck and lipped rim, very finely carved on either side in low relief with three peaches on a leafy branch, the shoulders with ram's heads and fixed-ring handles, stopper

Lot Essay

This well-carved bottle is attributable to the Palace workshops on the strength of the lipped rim, the style of carving, auspicious subject matter (representing longevity and appropriate for a birthday gift) and the ram's head handles.
