French text, colour and monochrome facsimile maps, with additional facsimile map reproduced from earlier editions loosely-inserted in volume I. Uniform original gilt-panelled imitation-vellum boards, after the style of Blaeu's original publisher's bindings, gilt leather lettering-pieces.

NUMBER 34 OF A LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 COPIES. The fine facsimile edition of the first French edition of Blaeu's Atlas maior of 1663, issued on the third centenary of the completion of the atlas in 1667. The work is a reproduction both of Colbert's presentation copy held by the Amsterdam university library, and of maps from the Bibliotheca Thysiana in Leyden. Koeman/van der Krogt, vol II, p.357.
