In the above match played on 15th May 1963 in Rotterdam, before 49,000 spectators, Tottenham Hotspurs defeated Atletico Madrid 5-1, with that becoming the first British side to win a European competition. The claret jug was presented to Blanchflower in 1977 during a visit to Canada and the other medal in this lot was awarded to him by the Eastern Canada Professioanl Soccer League during a two month playing stint with Toronto City in the summer of 1961
