The following is the transcript of the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory Diamond Report:
Since their discovery more than 3,000 years ago, diamonds have retained an elite position in the mineral kingdom. Throughout the generations, the unique properties and characteristics of diamonds have mesmerised royalty, connisseurs and lay persons alike. It is a tribute to nature's delicate balance to have created the hardest substance known to mankind, yet it may be fashioned in a manner to be adorned. A combination of traits permits a diamond to obtain its superior polish, exhibit its adamantine lustre, as well as reveal the distinctive brilliance and scintillation, for which it is so highly prized.
The pair of diamonds described in Diamond Reports No. 0201007 and 0201008, is an extraordinary set, each gem weighing in excess of 20 ct (23.11 ct and 23.49 ct, repectively). Besides the exceptional size and quality of the gemstones, they are fashioned in the cushion shaped cutting style as a perfectly matched pair. In addition, both of these diamonds are classified as type IIa, chemically very pure and among the rarest of diamond types. It is the virtual lack of chemical impurities which accounts for their superior colour.
Taken singly each diamond is a superb and unique specimen, yet as a perfectly matched pair, they represent a true rarity.
