A George III cream lacquer, ormolu and cut glass mounted musical bracket clock, circa 1790
For the Turkish market. The case painted with flowers and gilt-heightened scarlet reserves, with later Chinese figures to the front, surmounted by a cut glass cupola supported on six faceted columns, with later cut glass urn finials to the angles surmounted by crescent urns, with brass handles to the sides above foliate cast sound frets, faceted glass columns to the recessed front angles, on foliate scroll cast feet, with florally painted mask to the white enamel Turkish chapter disc signed GEO. PRIOR LONDON, later blued steel hands, subsidiary enamel dials above for strike/silent and tune selection (1 Dance, 2 Song, 3 Air, 4 Song), later false plate to the five pillar triple gut fusee movement with knife-edge verge escapement, hour strike on bell and music on eight bells via a 3in. pinned cylinder, music trip repeat to one side and hour trip repeat to the other, the backplate profusely engraved with foliate scrolls and with leafy engraving to the movement securing brackets, restorations
