The distinctive pattern glazing-bars, particularly the shaped lower bar, together with the cut-corner panelled doors match those on a breakfront-cabinet sold the Property of a Lady, Christie's London, 4 July 1996, lot 338. The breakfront was attributed to Mayhew and Ince on the basis of its distinctive inlay and overall quality. Similarly, this cabinet's crisply carved paterae intersperced with fluting and mottled mahogany panels indicate that this was made by a pre-eminent London cabinet-maker.
