Lot Essay

This model uses the 12'''-120 caliber with an indirectly driven center seconds hand developed by Victorin Piguet. An example in stainless steel is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 2nd edition, p. 183.

The present lot was examined by Patek Philippe in November of 1999 at which time they confirmed production of the watch in 1936 and its subsequent sale on 13 July 1937. According to our records, this is one of the earliest Patek Philippe wristwatches with indirectly driven center seconds to have been offered at auction.
