There is a similar better preserved casket in the Archaeological Museum in Granada (Crespi, G.: L'Europe Musulmane, Milan, 1982, pl.p.264). Both are of similar form with overhanging hinged lid. The form of the decoration is also very close with the techniques and materials resulting in very similar stellar designs. In the Granada example the design is overall while here it is contained within panels. A larger example is in the Archaeological Museum, Madrid (Torres Balbas, Leopoldo: Ars Hispaniae, Arte Almohade, Arte Nazari, Arte Mudejar, Madrid, 1949, fig.243, p.222). There, as here, the stellar designs are contained in panels within broad borders of related designs. The design of the latter cabinet is compared with the doors executed in a comparable manner which come from the Casa de los Infantes (Torres Balbas, op.cit., pls. 244 and 245). These in design in turn are closely comparable to Sevilian decoration of the fourteenth century.
