A rare series of signatures from the inter-war years. The signatures comprise 'REST OF AUSTRALIA' 1940, Bradman, Grimmett, Brown, Ring, Tallon, Hassett, Waite, Ridings, Scott, Johnson, Rogers (not signed by I.S.Lee); New South Wales McCabe, Cheetham, Chipperfield, O'Rielly, Saggers, Pepper, Sismey, Barnes, Lush, Cohen, Jackson; VICTORIA, Barnett, Ring, Des Fothergill (Collingwood footballer who tied for the Brownlow medal 1940), Thorn, Miller, Johnson, Beanes, I.S.Lee, Hassett, Fleetwood-Smith, Sievers,Scott. In a competitive match played for the benefit of patriotic war funds, the Sheffield Shield winners, NSW, captained by Stan McCabe, beat 'Rest' captained by Bradman, by 2 wickets (Hassett 136, 75; Brown 97; McCabe 72, 96; Grimmett 10/195
