A LARGE PAIR OF ORMOLU MOUNTED SEVRES PATTERN ROYAL BLUE GROUND VASES AND COVERS RAISED ON EBONISED COLUMNS
Painted by M Demonceaux, late 19th century
Each tapering body decorated to one side with a panel depicting figures in an interior signed, within a gilt cartouche of foliate scrolls, the reverse with landscape of cottages by a wooded stream, flanked by rising foliate supports and drop handles above laurel swags and beaded supports, the lower body moulded with acanthus leaves with gilt highlighting, raised on a circular spreading foot and square shaped base, the fluted shoulder moulded with bellflowers and domed cover with gilt cone finial (one cover restored), the covers with imitation interlaced 'L' mark with initial L, the vases raised on large ebonised fluted columns on stepped bases
The vase 106 cm (31 3/4 in.) high; the columns 123 cm (48 1/2 in.) high
