The blue field with polychrome palmettes issuing angular flowering and leafy vine in a burnt-orange border containing polychrome angular leaves containing floral sprays together with ivory stylised panels between vine meander stripes, plain outer stripe, very slight wear

Lot Essay

The design of this carpet was taken from a carpet which was once housed in the Çinili Kösk and is now in the Türk ve Islam Eserleri Museum (Erdmann, K.:Seven Hundred Years of Oriental Carpets, Germany, 1966, Fig 132, p.112).
