AN EXTREMELY FINE SILK ARMENIAN HEREKE PRAYER RUG
West Anatolia, third quarter 20th century
The ivory field with a Koum Kapi design with scrolling palmette vine around large cloudband motifs, stylised inscription cartouche above, the light blue mihrab arch with vases issuing floral sprays with perching birds bounded by a band of inscription, in a powder pink border of cloudband around polychrome inscription cartouches between ivory flowerhead, palmette and cloudband stripes, part piled kilim strip at each end
