It is unknown for what edition the present limitation leaf was first intended, but they are apparently all found in this 1953 set. The leaves were presumably generated c. 1928-30 when Doubleday was negotiating other signed editions of Doyle, but set aside after the poor sales of the Crowborough Edition and finally salvaged 20 years later. A MYSTERY. De Waal 669.
