Rubens painted three versions of this composition. The present example relates most closely to the painting on panel at Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire, circa 1630-32. See Peter C. Sutton, The Age of Rubens, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Exhibition Catalogue, 22 September 1993 - 2 January 1994, Ghent, p. 303 - 306, fig. 1 and the cover illustration.
