Born in Montecatini in 1865, Ezio Ceccarelli moved to Florence with his family at a young age where he discovered a love for the Arts. He studied under Cambi, Rivalta and Bortone, and exhibited in Florence in 1883 and 1891, where he received an award for his depiction of Christ. Ceccarelli was comissioned for several highly important works, including a figure group for Il Vittoriano, the extravagant monument in Rome dedicated to King Vittorio Emanuele II.
