A PAIR OF IROQUOIS BEADED HIDE MOCCASINS
with white cotton embroidery thread and blue and white beads on a smoked hide ground, each vamp outlined with embroidery stitches enclosed by two bands of beaded zigzags, similar bands in scrolling pattern on the cuff, edged with light pink cotton cloth and beads, silk ties
Lengths: 8¼ in. (21 cm.) (2)
Provenance
Most likely collected by the present owner's grandfather, an Irishman who came to America around 1900 and worked on a plantation before meeting a New York woman and returning, married, to Ireland.
