Further details
This lot is accompanied by an unsigned letter written in 1902, apparently by the basket maker, explaining why she was delayed in finishing and sending baskets to the buyer, Mrs. Sidney Bradford. The writer asks Mrs. Bradford to write to Congress on behalf of the Indians regarding taxes and land confiscation. Furthermore, she ask her to advance her $100 and assures her that she will pay her back with the money her husband makes from crops and the money she "and the Paul girls" make from selling their baskets.
