PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF SAM FRANCIS, SOLD TO BENEFIT FUTURE PROJECTS OF THE SAM FRANCIS FOUNDATION Christie's is pleased to offer the following fifteen lots of Sam Francis prints to benefit the Sam Francis Foundation, which was officially launched this year. The foundation will be a grants giving organization dedicated to charitable purposes within the arts. The following lots reflect the wide ranging printmaking techniques in the artist's oeuvre; lithography, etching/aquatint, screenprint and woodcut/monotype. The foundation is also offering lot 382, Robert Therrien's No Title portfolio.

When working on his prints, Francis said, "I am the paper, I am the paint, I am the machine..." A consummate example of the artist's unity with the process of creating his art, this lithograph is one of the finest examples of Francis' achievement in the medium.
