First half 19th Century, Probably Ceylon
The circular tilt-top inlaid with a central circular medallion with an elephant, issuing swirling radiating panels of various specimen veneers divided by chequer-banding, including palm, rosewood, calamander and satinwood, with a Greek-key edge, above a plain frieze, on a turned baluster column and concave-sided tripartite platform with downswept legs leading into claw feet, the ivory elephant medallion probably later
