A SET OF REGENCY BRASS-MOUNTED SATINWOOD HANGING SHELVES
Crossbanded in rosewood with three bowfront rectangular graduated shelves, the top shelf with a three-quarter pierced gallery, with X-filled ends and turned baluster supports, previously resting on a piece of furniture

Lot Essay

This open-tiered bookcase of golden satinwood is ormolu-enriched in the antique manner with basket-weave gallery and pillars, with sunflowered ties in the Pompeian altar-tripod fashion. Related bookcases feature on bureaux and cabinets illustrated in Thomas Sheraton's Cabinet Dictionary, 1803, such as plates 23 and 25.
