Each with a tulipwood crossbanded top with Vitruvian-scrolled band and satinwood band, on a turned fluted baluster shaft with chandelles and foliage swags, on cabriole legs headed by foliage and with rectangular scrolled feet

Lot Essay

These tables are typical of the high quality furniture produced in the third-quarter of the 19th Century by the London and Lancaster firm of Gillows. Gillows' stamp appears on a related octagonal table with fluted column supports, sold by the Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth Charitable Trust, Christie's South Kensington, 31 March 1993, lot 550 and on a related centre table sold anonymously, Phillips London, 22 May 2001, lot 127.
