signed 'Le Pho' and stamped with two of the artist's seals (lower left)

A certificate of authenticity from the artist dated 20th June 2001 accompanies this painting.
The present work was executed after the artist's visit to China (1933-34). This work clearly juxtaposes the two major artistic influences on the artist, both Western and Eastern. A work of similiar medium and comparable composition was sold with Christie's Singapore, 3 October 1999, lot 926.
