It is very rare to find moulded gourd bowls with carved cinnabar lacquer interiors, although there are examples of bowls with black lacquer interiors, sometimes with gilt decoration, as seen on lot 525 in this sale. The present example is all the more important as it is a marked piece of lacquer among the extremely limited examples from the Kangxi reign.
