The vessel is raised on five tab feet, finely and intricately carved in relief around the exterior with a continuous mountain landscape detailed with a pavilion among trees and vegetation, the near distance with two boys holding tributes, both turned towards their companion seated on a caparisoned elephant, observed by a sage standing with his assistant along a mountain pass, the narrow path occupied intermittently with travellers bearing gifts, leads into the far distance, winding its way beside waterfalls and running streams, the base carved with a four-character seal mark, Qianlong nianzhi, the semi-translucent stone of an even tone
