A GREEN-ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' JAR AND COVER
JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)

The design of the finely potted jar is pencilled in underglaze-blue and filled with translucent green enamel, detailing two dragons chasing flaming pearls on a cloud ground, below a band of bajixiang at the shoulder framed by two rows of ruyi pendants, all above stylised lotus lappets at the base (cover restored)

Lot Essay

Compare a similar covered jar but with a Qianlong seal mark, in the National Palace Museum, Taibei, included in the Enamelled Ware of the Ch'ing Dynasty, Book II, pl. 13.

A similar Jiaqing jar from the Edward T. Chow Collection was sold in Hong Kong, 19 May 1981, lot 538.
