A RARE GE-TYPE GLAZED CONG
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

Strongly potted in archaistic form, moulded in shallow relief with trigrams at the corners below the thick pale grey glaze with dark grey and brown crackles throughout, one side pierced with two pairs of small circular perforations, possibly for suspension, and the splayed foot with two slotted apertures

Lot Essay

Other similar Qianlong vases, but without the perforations, have been published, one from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, was included in the Hoyt Memorial Exhibition, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 469; and another from the Edward T. Chow Collection, Part III, was sold in Hong Kong, 19 May 1981, lot 503.
