A FINE GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE WINE EWER
QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

The ewer is cast with a globular body, rising to a narrow cylindrical neck before an in-turned mouthrim, supported on a splayed circular foot, decorated with well-spaced horizontal bow-strings, the shoulder applied with an upward pointing spout emerged from the agape mouth of a mythical beast head, the handle similarly fashioned with the C-scroll issued in descent from a mythical head, all decorated with gilt splashes of different sizes, the base inscribed with the four-character reign mark
