Circa 1750, the base marked with underglaze blue crossed swords to the inside, the banderole probably an 18th century replacement
(Kreusigingsgruppe) modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler, Christ wearing the crown of thorns and a loin cloth, nailed with pins to a contemporary wooden cross below a porcelain banderole-shaped plaque with the initials I.N.R.I. in gilt, the removable cross fixed into a recess in the base, Mary Magdalene wearing an elaborate dress kneeling at the foot of the cross and holding her arms around it, on rockwork base applied with a skull, two bones, foliage and reeds (Mary Magdalene's right hand repaired, chips to cross recess, minute chips)
