Sir Francis Leopold M'CLINTOCK (1819-1907). The Voyage of the 'Fox' in the Arctic Seas. A narrative of the discovery of the fate of Sir John Franklin and his companions. London: John Murray, 1859. 1 volume, 8° (211 x 132mm). 3 folding maps (1 wood-engraved, 1 lithographic, 1 engraved with hand-coloured outlines), 15 wood-engraved plates, 1 folding lithographic facsimile. (The engraved map repaired, laminated with gauze and folded into a separate modern half calf binding.) Contemporary half calf (rebacked and cornered, old spine laid down). First edition; [with] two slim volumes, bound to match, one volume containing the folding engraved map (see above) and three related newspaper cuttings, the second with three small manuscript samples of the handwriting and signatures of M'Clintock, Allan Young and Sherard Osborn and a related early manuscript map tipped onto three leaves.
