Relation d'un voyage du Pôle Arctique au Pôle Antarctique par le centre du monde. Paris: Gabriel Amaulry, 1722. 12° (160 x 88mm). 5 folding engraved plates. (Lacks front blank, ownership stamps on title crudely blacked-over.) Contemporary French speckled calf, spine gilt, orange morocco lettering-piece (small splits to joints). Second (?) edition of this fantasy describing the huge lake of hot water at the north Pole and the journey through the centre of the earth to the south Pole. The British Library Public Catalogue lists an 'Amsterdam' edition of 1721 which appears to be the first. Sabin 69249.

(Lacking final blank[?], some light soiling and offsetting, occasional small marginal tears.) Contemporary cloth, letterpress paper title label (small chip to label, signs of the removal of a stamp from upper cover). Second edition of this charming and rare work (the first edition appeared in the same year). The majority of the informative text is in the form of doggerel verse. Osborne I,p.75.
