[With:]
N.O.G.NORDENSKJÖLD (editor). Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse der schwedischen Südpolar-Expedition 1901-1903... Band II Meteorologie. Stockholm, etc.: 1910. 4 parts in one vol., 4° (272 x 210mm). Numerous plates, maps, charts and graphs (some coloured, some folding). Contemporary wrappers (tear to lower cover). Cf.Spence 859; cf.Taurus 36.
Two volumes from a mass of published information to result from Nordenskojöld's expedition. The first volume is particularly interesting: Priestley served as geologist on Shackleton's Nimrod expedition and later, in the same capacity, as a member of the Northern Party on Scott's last expedition. The present work would have been of particular use to him as he was the author, with Sir Charles Wright, of the volume on glaciology in the scientific reports of the Terra Nova expedition. William Fleming served as director of the Scott Polar Research Institute from 1947 to 1949. (2)
