Half-title, 16pp. publisher's advertisements, dated October 1905, at back. 15 plates, folding lithographic map, printed in colours, numerous illustrations, the majority after Edward Wilson. (Pp.257-264 and 273-280 somwewhat crudely opened with some loss to blank margins, occasional light spotting.) Original green cloth, upper cover blocked in white and black, the spine in gilt (some scuffing to extremities). First edition of 'one of the few first-hand accounts of Scott's Discovery expedition' (Taurus), written by Scott's second-in-command. Conrad p.110; Spence 67; Taurus 43.
