Atlas carrying the world

Gillespie works primarily in bronze and, unusually, casts all his own work. In 1997 a sculpture group entitled, Famine was donated to the Irish nation, commemorating the Great Famine of the 1840s. Consisting of seven life size bronze figures it is sited on the quays near the Customs House, Dublin.
