Lot Essay

Arthur Cameron joined the Guild of Handicraft in November 1891, from Ashbee's Lincoln Inn Fields, and stayed until the liquidation at the end of 1907. He epitomised Ashbee's vision of the unskilled keen worker who had not been monotonously trained up by the trade. His work continued the traditions of repoussé work of John Williams and John Pearson founder members of the Guild
